Window Upgrade

Yay! The plywood has been replaced with a double-pane, LoE3 window with a super spacer and argon gas. It looks great and it's now a lot quieter in our front room.

Going Going...Gone?

We had our annual Young Women's fundraiser for girl's camp in the form of a garage sale at our house. I've stressed about it for the past week. Now it's over and it was a big success and I learned a lot. We made enough money that we might not need to have a fundraiser next year! And it's all gone! We only had two small car loads that we immediately took to Thrift Town. You can't tell that this mess was in the front of our house just hours ago. Thanks everyone who donated their belongings and to those that helped clean up. I'm ready for a nap.

The Headboard

Not only did my parents bring Taylor to us on Saturday, but they brought the finished headboard for our bed. Isn't it great? Thanks Dad, we love it. Now we just need to paint over the orange walls and our room will be looking pretty nice :)

Little Star

This week with only one child has been a nice change. I thought I would miss Taylor terribly, especially because she is a full-time babysitter and playmate for Lauryn, but I've enjoyed this alone time with Lauryn. She is learning to talk and to be more independent, and so she has been my little helper and companion. Some of her phrases are, "me do", "myself", "I want a...(cookie, snack, date)," "help me", and my favorite: "I went". We are potty training this week and because she was ready, it has been easy. I'm grateful for this week but I know we will both be happy to see Taylor tomorrow.

One Fell off and Bumped her Head

Yesterday we had a scary experience. As we were getting ready to drive Taylor to Dixon to meet Peter's uncle who would take her to the Ranch for a week, Lauryn did a face plant off of my bed and smacked the side of her head on the floor. After crying for a minute or two she started to zone out and close her eyes to sleep, then she threw up. After talking to the advice nurse, my mom, and a friend who had just recently had a similar experience, I took Lauryn to the ER. She sat quietly on my lap during the whole registration process (which is not normal at all), but by the time we were checked in she snapped out of it. I was actually happy to see her have a minor tantrum and pout. Anyway, she's okay now and Taylor is at the Ranch for the week. She called me this morning to see if she could bring home a puppy. Nice try Doug and Heidi.

What was She Thinking?

You are probably expecting me to write about how Lauryn cut her own hair or perhaps how Taylor gave Lauryn a haircut. Sadly that is not the case. My sister did this. We dropped the girls off with Bren and Neil while we went rafting on Saturday (see photo below). When we returned to our children we found Lauryn with uneven Euro bangs. I know her bangs were getting long but I've been pulling them out of her eyes with a hair tie in hopes of growing them out; that's easier for me than giving her a haircut because I know I can't cut hair very well. If nothing else, Bren has made my haircuts look pretty good.

The New Office

We finally "finished" painting the office. It's not perfect and there are still some things left to do but it was good enough to move the furniture back in. Lauryn and Sabina, a preschool friend, are my models.
You can see the place on the floor where the old wall used to be.

This picture is meant to give you an idea of what the pocket door looks like.

Wicked Good Tea

Heidi, Doug, and Cierra came down for a visit and to watch the girls while Peter, Cierra and I went to see the musical Wicked, our Christmas gift from them. It was so fun to have a night out at the theater. It has been a while since I've seen a play or musical and I was reminded of how much I enjoy it. If you haven't seen this show yet, I recommend it. Heidi and Cierra also took Taylor to tea with one of Heidi's friends who lives in the area. If I ever go out to tea again, I'm going to this place. Just look at all that yummy food! My only tea experience was at the Ritz and I left hungry and broke.

Lauryn is 2!

I have some catching up to do with this blog. Lauryn turned two on March 23rd. We opened presents in the morning and I made a yummy-but-not-so-pretty cake. I'm glad there are no pictures.
